Jess and I were walking around Camden one afternoon when I saw this boy just gazing out a restaurant window while his parents ate. The reflection was so much that I couldn’t really see anything but the kid. I snapped a quick shot thinking that if he at least smiled it might look cool. Later, when I went through the photos, I didn’t think much of this picture, the reflections in the window were distracting… then I started cropping it, and making other adjustments. For the hell of it I really tweaked out some levels and that’s when the person in the background came through (assuming she’s the boys mother) without the edits to the photo you couldn’t see anyone but the boy.
Making the adjustments completely changed the style of the photo, and bringing out the mothers face really added something to it. The first thing that catches your eye is the smiling boy, then the lines of the boys shirt and those from the reflections pull your eyes around the photo, and over to the mother. She’s not seen in great detail, but it’s clear she’s very pretty with defined cheekbones and classic features. She’s smiling and talking to someone but we can’t see who. It all makes for a slighty mysterious but very happy setting.
It’s a little rough, the levels aren’t perfect, but I really like this picture. I think it’s intriguing and leaves you feeling happy.

Thought this was a neat photo. I was taking pictures of the different rooms in a house Jess and I were looking at. It’s been empty all winter, which helped create the erie setting.
